Midterms: Reflection, Not Just Grades

As midterms approach and head home with students on October 4th, it's a valuable opportunity to check in on your child's academic progress. Remember, success isn't solely measured by A's in the gradebook.

Striving for Growth, Not Uniformity

We believe in challenging students, not creating a classroom where everyone excels at everything. If every child received an A in every class, we wouldn't be pushing them to their full potential. We celebrate individual strengths and understand that not all students are the same. Our goal is for your child to put forth their best effort in the classroom, on homework, and in managing their various commitments.

Support is Available

We offer several resources to help your child succeed:

  • Homework Club: 8:15-8:40am

  • Lunch & Learn: Students can eat and work in a classroom

  • Afterschool: Students can work in the main office until 4pm

Together we can work to ensure every student thrives, both academically and personally.

8th Grade Parents - LPHS Placement Test

Nurse Jordan Notes

Physical Examination & immunizations: Students in grades K & 6 must submit proof of physical examination and immunizations no later than October 15, 2025 to remain in attendance.

Dental Clinic: Orland Park Dental Services will be coming to OPS on 11/3 and 11/4! Eligible students will receive a cleaning, fluoride treatment, and sealants if needed. Sealants are a protective coating on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. The dentist will also be using silver diamine fluoride this year. This treatment hardens cavities immediately and prevents them from getting worse while the student schedules a follow up appointment with their own dentist for treatment.  This program is offered for all grades, but the state requires K, 2nd, & 6th graders to have a mandatory dental exam prior to May 15, 2026. This dental exam will fulfill this requirement. Forms have been sent home with your students. Please fill them out and return them as soon as possible.

Vision examinations: All kindergarten students are required to submit proof of a vision examination.
