K-5 Holiday programs will be held at Lincoln School in the gym this year. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the listed starting time. Students will report to their classrooms upon entering the school.

Students have recess out-doors twice a day when the temperature is above 20 degrees with wind chill. Please send your child dressed appropriately for outdoor recess.
If you need any warm winter clothing including: coats, hats, gloves, snow pants, boots, or any other items of clothing. Please let Nurse Jordan know. She can assist you. Call her at 815-883-8932, ext. 118.
Please make sure we have updated contact information. In the event of a school closure due to winter weather. Parents will be notified via phone, text, email, and WLPO.
Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, any homeless child shall be immediately admitted, even if the child’s parent /guardian is unable to produce records normally required for enrollment. A homeless child may attend the District school that the child attended when permanently housed or in which the child was last enrolled. A homeless child living in any District school’s attendance area may attend that school. The child shall have access to the same free, appropriate public education as provide to other children, including a public preschool education.

The L.E.A.S.E. Preschool Team and the Oglesby Preschool will be hosting a Preschool Screenings for 3-5 year old and Birth -3 Screening for infants-2 years old on Wednesday, January 8th.

Grades K and 2: “Child Protection Unit” is a 6 week program designed for students in Kindergarten-2rd grade. The weekly presentations are 20-30 minutes in length, and they include videos, learning cards, role plays and hands on activities. Topics include: seatbelt usage, fire safety, gun safety, distinguishing between safe/unsafe and unwanted touching, abuse, and how to respond.
Grade 4: “Child Safety Unit” is designed for students in 4th-6th grade. The 5 weekly presentations are 30 minutes in length and include videos, and hands on activities. The program focuses on the topic of bullying and how to respond to bullying, whether as a firsthand experience or as a bystander. It also teaches about conflict resolution, bully prevention, and internet safety (including all forms of social media). One lesson is focused on Erin’s Law which reviews prior safety information covered in early grades regarding safe/unsafe and unwanted touching, abuse, and how to respond.
*** You will be receiving a more detailed letter prior to the beginning of these programs. You may opt your child out of the program at that time***
If your child has borrowed clothing from the health office due to an accident or spill, please wash and return these clothes to the school nurse in a timely manner.
If you would like to make a donation of gently used clothing, the Lincoln health office is in need of size 8-10 & 10-12 boys pants as well as 8-10 girls pants. Please only send pants in these sizes at this time.

Illinois Valley Food Pantry Information
In order to receive holiday food baskets, you must register as a client prior to the holiday distribution.
Christmas baskets can be picked up Wednesday Dec. 18th from 1-6 p.m. This is a one day, curbside only pick-up. Please enter the line at the public parking at the corner of 2nd & Wright. You must show your photo ID and proof of address. The Food Pantry will be closed from 12 P.M. on Dec. 20th through Jan 5th. The food pantry reopens on January 6.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Illinois Valley Food Pantry is located at 122 Wright St. LaSalle, Illinois 61301. Phone 815-224-3658. For regular monthly orders, pick-up days are Mon. from 9:00 a.m. –12:00 p.m., Wed. 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Fri. 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
If this is your first time ordering or picking up from the Illinois Valley Food Pantry, you will need to stop by and fill out a form. The hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.), Wed (10:00 A.M.-6:00 p.m.), and closed on Sat.
On your first visit bring the birthdates of all persons living in your household, proof of address, and a photo ID.
