A child’s first and most important teacher are their parents, and now you have entrusted us to educate your child. The connection between home and school is one of the most important factors in student success. The following are some simple things you can do to help your child succeed:

• Check your child’s back pack, take home folder, and Class Dojo every day for important information from your child’s teacher. If your child is a remote learner make sure to communicate daily.

• Take attendance seriously! Every day of school missed is a day of learning a child can  never get back!

   

• Send your child to school ready to learn: make sure they have plenty of sleep the night before and if possible breakfast in the morning.

• Take the time to talk about school  with your child.

   

• Support your child in everything that they do and encourage them to give their best effort!

National Wear Red Day is celebrated each year on the first Friday in February, to bring greater attention to heart disease as a leading cause of death for Americans. 

This is a reminder to all of us the importance of healthy living through exercise and healthy food choices.  Heart disease does not discriminate – it is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States.  You can make healthy changes to lower your risk of developing heart disease.
Risk factors for heart disease include: • Smoking • High blood pressure • High cholesterol • Overweight/obesity • Physical inactivity • Diabetes • Family history of early coronary heart disease • Age (for women, 55 and older)

Heart disease is largely preventable. Here’s what you can do now to reduce your risk:

• Don’t smoke • Eat for heart health • Aim for 30 minutes of physical activity at least 5 days a week • Ask your doctor to check your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose

Dental Education Feb. 26th

Dr. Dina Lunken’s office will be coming on February 26th for Dental Health Awareness lessons in our Pre-K through 2nd Grade classes.

As a reminder school breakfast and lunch are free for all students.

With the cold weather upon us please make sure your child has a warm coat, gloves, and a hat. We go outside any time the wind chill is above 20 degrees.

•  Dental Health Program Daytime Event is February 26th

• Lego/Block Building Night is February 27th from 5:30-6:30 in the Lincoln Cafeteria

• We currently have openings in our Preschool program. Please contact Ms. Kim at 815-883-9297 option 3 for more information.

• We will be hosting a L.E.A.S.E. Preschool Screening on March 28th for children aged 3-5 years of age. Please call Ms. Kim at 815-883-9297 option 3.

• During the winter we go out for recess as long as the temperature with wind chill is above 20 degrees. Please make sure to send kids with coats, hats, and gloves.

• Doors open at 8:15 please do not drop your child off at school prior to that time because of supervision.

• Please make sure to communicate all attendance through the school office.
